SAM RUTHE: Champion at 16

CONGRATULATIONS SAM RUTHE

One of my great people who I took much heart from was the wonderful Peter Snell and then along came the amazing John Walker and the group of young athletes who were always behind him.  Oh how I wanted to be that good on the track but as I grew up my Athletic ability seemed to wain so getting out of the blocks became even harder and harder as the Competition became faster and tougher.   Then today Sam Ruthe aged just 16 shows us all how it’s done.  I don’t think I could have more admiration for this young man who has just run the fastest mile in our Country’s history.  I’m sure he is so good he can’t even see the competition as he is now the supreme leader and has even more to offer.  I see Norm Jelly is predicting even a 4.45  mile must be somewhere on Sam’s horizon.  Blessings Sam for your future I do hope you are only just starting.  Keep smiling and your head down.  Being the best in the world is a very strange place to be and don’t forget there is only one place at the top for the world’s best and there you are at 16.  Enjoy every minute of the effort you are having to put in.  Fame is forever so hang on and enjoy the ride.
