CAlAMITY at Mt Maunganui

CALAMITY  And it is still raining

Over the last few weeks New Zealand mostly the north eastern coastal part of the North Island has been having massive flooding which we cannot fathom so we have blamed it on Global Warming.  The politicians both local and national are almost wringing their hands saying what do we do.  What can we do?  And nobody has a bulldozer or digger big enough to get in and start the clean up.  Firstly there is no actual finger pointing except some wise older gentleman who was up and about around 3.30 / 4 am looking at what was happening with all the rain.  He noticed that the land had started to open up and begin moving.  He raised the alarm and also tried to get the people in houses and the in the camping area below the hill, to move away.  The emergency officials who actually answered their phone when he phoned appear to have rolled over and went back to sleep.  Then day break came and the hillside released all it’s years of forestry slash to accelerate the landslide which blocked all the drains and creeks and which appears to have wiped out the camping ground, the toilet block and it seems some houses in the valley.  One couple managed to climb up onto their roof and could hear people in the house below calling out for help and the civil defence rescue people picked them up off the roof and wouldn’t help  them open the roof or even believe their were people still trapped in the house.  Those people are now part of the body count which as yet cannot get started as the land is still unstable and the rain is starting up again.  Of course the Prime Minister has turned up like any bad penny in a helicopter which would have been more use carrying out rescue work but instead he bought with him it seems the Minister of Police who so far is about as useful as a wet bus ticket from having been issued last year.  The Prime Minister still calls himself Christopher Luxon rather than Chris because he can’t help himself get on level terms with ordinary Kiwis when his background is in managing a Washing powder company be successful in the USA so he knows that using the right washing powder will get things whiter than white except on this occasion on the north eastern coast everyone is either working knee deep and filthy dirty in liquid mud and slash or they are drowning in the liquid mud which never should have happened if the people planting pine trees simply cleaned up their work site which is now scattered over a vase area as far as the eye can see.  Of course the Civil Defence force is under the control of the local council and the Police, and they have yet to locate the person at the Civil Defence phone answering service and taken them and their family out and show them what happens when they fail the community after they were given about 4 hours notice of the impending disaster which should have saved all the lives if they had acted promptly as required.  I wonder where we find the people who get themselves into powerful positions even those whose job it is. to answer a phone in an emergency and who don’t have the nous to understand what is needed at the coalface.  We only have to look overseas and see gross incompetence in political leadership.  We live under the shadow of Australia and we see their Prime Minister completely misjudge the harm two evil non Australian gunmen can cause the moment they get their hands on at least one assault rifle and start shooting civilians.  According to all the information we have received the gunmen belonged to a group of Jihadists who undertook training in the Philippines in the processes of killing people who don’t agree with their religious beliefs.  What does their Prime Minister do but blame their gun law failure when their enforcement of their gun laws fail and when their own security service even had these two individuals under a watch advisory yet they obtained assault weapons right under their noses and started their own private misguided war.  Of course the Aussie PM blames the guns in society yet their own police allowed them to buy these guns even thought those two were on a watch list by their own security service.  So the Aussie Prime Minister is making tougher gun laws when Countries such as Switzerland actually require very home to have guns and ammunition available and they never have any gun crime.  Apparently it’s not the Guns that cause the problems.  I have long considered that when we reach age 65 and receive our old age Gold Card we should be also be given a gun license and a license to carry and to be able to remove any young idiot who we don’t like so that when the younger generation grow up they have learned to respect their elders so there would no longer be any of these idiots reaching old age to roam the street causing this sort of chaos as is now happening.  Obviously the police on the north east coast being in charge of Civil Defence is a bit of a florin hope as they can’t even make sure people in danger in a camping ground having a holiday are safe even if they are given a 3 or 4 hour warning of impeding danger.  The PM and Minister of Police are there to make sure the facts gets smothered over once again and we the people don’t have guns to make sure that those people who make it to the top are worth their shit.  I see now that the Prime Minister is criticizing the people who are appalled at the handling of this tragedy which in election year is about the silliest thing he could do as most people can see the failures.  He could of course take a leaf out of the Australian PM’s book and start looking into gun controls to calm the Nation when all we have to do is make sure we have one responsible person available to answer the phone.  So who do we call.? The Ghost Busters.
